Carolina seeking its fourth match play appearance in seven seasons of the new format

SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ is set to tee it up in the postseason at the 2024 SEC Championship on Wednesday. For the 23rd year, the conference tournament will be played at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course.

It’s the seventh consecutive season in which the tournament will feature 54-hole stroke play to crown an individual SEC Champion followed by eight-team match play to determine the team champion. The final round of stroke play will take place Friday with the match play quarterfinals and semifinals on Saturday. The championship match will be live on SEC Network Sunday morning. SEC Network+ will provide coverage of the semifinal matches on Saturday. Taylor Zarzour (pxp) and Steve Melnyk (analyst) will be on the call again.

The Gamecocks have made match play three times and are seeking the program’s first trip to the semifinals.

Redshirt sophomore Frankie Harris holds down the top spot in the lineup again this week as he makes his SEC Championship debut. He’s joined by senior Rafe Reynolds, sophomore Zach Adams, sixth-year Lansdon Robbins and freshman Bo Carpenter, who will also be making his SEC Championship debut.

It’s another year with one of the strongest fields in college golf at the SEC Championship as nine teams head into the tournament ranked in the latest Clippd Top-25 poll. Five are ranked inside the top-10 including No. 1 Auburn and No. 2 Vanderbilt.

Carolina will be paired with Kentucky for the opening 18 holes on Wednesday. Carpenter, who hails from nearby Tifton, Ga., will be the first player off for Carolina at 9:40 a.m. (ET) from hole one.
